the subway doors opened at 14th street and 1st ave ,when it was still called the double LL,and as i sat and looked out i saw a man who had already painted over an advertisement  black and began painting these figures that looked similar to some african cave paintings i had once seen in a textile design book, he was surrounded by 5 beautiful latino teenage boys giving him a hand. i was inspired  and curious…..after that i started seeing more and more of  the subway advertisements painted over black with this beautiful art……didn’t know it was Keith Haring. what a star. he was generous and died way too soon. - Lady Miss Kier
